Bilateral agreements formalize the normalization of Israel`s already thawed relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, in accordance with their common opposition to Iran. But the agreements do not address decades of conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, who see the pacts as a blow to the back of their Arab colleagues and a betrayal of their cause for a Palestinian state. On 13 August 2020, uae Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash proclaimed the United Arab Emirates agreement on normalizing relations with Israel and said his country would address threats to the two-state solution, in particular the annexation of the Palestinian territories, and called on the Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table. He suggested that he did not think there would be an embassy in Jerusalem until there was a final agreement between the Palestinians and the Israelis. According to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “Israel and the United Arab Emirates will completely normalize diplomatic relations. They will exchange embassies and ambassadors and begin working together in all areas such as tourism, education, health, trade and security. Malaysia stated that the agreement was a sovereign right of the United Arab Emirates, but that it would continue to support Israel`s withdrawal from the Palestinian territories. The Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it welcomed the agreement and hoped it would contribute to peace and security in the Middle East. The agreement makes VaE only the third Arab country to currently have diplomatic relations with the Jewish nation, after Egypt and Jordan recognized Israel`s right to exist decades ago and unite Israel with a powerful Persian Gulf ally in Washington, which shares Iran`s vision as an enemy. The contract was signed on September 15, 2020.
The treaty recognizes the sovereignty of each state, obliges the two states to exchange ambassadors and conclude bilateral agreements on various subjects, including visa agreements, and will enter into force as soon as ratification. The agreement was ratified by the Israeli government on 12 October and ratified by the Knesset on 15 October. Gantz thanked Trump, Netanyahu and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the peace deal and said he was showing an alliance among Middle Eastern nations that wanted stability and mutual cooperation. He also showed Israel`s eternal desire to make peace with neighbouring countries in favour of him, while strengthening Israel`s image on the world stage and creating a better future for the region. Netanyahu, interviewed by journalists, admitted that negotiations with the United Arab Emirates were secret because the United States asked him to do so. It is also important to see what it is not. This is far from the comprehensive peace plan to resolve the Palestinian issue, which President Trump has long advocated. However, there are short-term benefits for all parties. UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Tuesday that the purchase is part of his country`s effort to modernize its military and that its request for US F-35 war the discussion before the normalization agreement with Israel.
On 21 August, Prince Turki bin Fayçal Al Saud wrote in an obvious reply to Mr. Trump, who said on 19 August that he expected Saudi Arabia to accede to the agreement, that the price to be paid for normalizing relations with Israel would be the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He added that any Arab country that wants to follow in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates should in future demand a higher price from Israel for peace. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on 1 September accused the United Arab Emirates of betraying the Islamic world, Arab countries and Palestine.
